The short answer: if Lumary is too large or too costly for you, the strongest alternatives are Brevity and SupportAbility for small to mid providers, ShiftCare for rostering-led providers, CareMaster for flat pricing, MYP for CRM plus operations, and AlayaCare for larger home-care providers. Comparison below.

Why providers look for a Lumary alternative

Lumary is a genuinely capable platform. It is built natively on Salesforce, and the company says it now supports 200-plus providers, 80,000-plus workers and around $6 billion in annual NDIS funding moving through the system. For a large registered provider running clinical care, complex rostering and multi-funding-stream billing, that depth earns its keep.

The reason providers go looking for an alternative is rarely that Lumary cannot do the job. It is that the platform, the Salesforce foundation underneath it, and the implementation effort are more than a smaller operation needs. We work with NDIS providers on growth, not software procurement, but the topic comes up constantly: the operators most likely to outgrow their fit with Lumary are the ones who bought enterprise software while they were still a 10 to 40 staff business, then found they were paying for capability and configuration they never switched on.

A few patterns we see when providers raise this with us:

None of that is a knock on Lumary. It is a sizing question. The context matters too: as at 30 June 2025 the scheme supported roughly 739,000 participants served by a very large and fragmented provider market, per the NDIA quarterly reports. Most of those providers are small. Software built for the top end of that market is not automatically the right fit for the middle of it.

Six Lumary alternatives at a glance

The table below is a starting shortlist, not a ranking. “Best for” is about fit, not quality, and the pricing is indicative only: every vendor quotes against your seat count and modules, and prices move, so treat these as a sense of the band rather than a quote.

PlatformBest forIndicative pricing
Brevity CareAffordable all-in-one for small to mid providersPer user per month, mid band
SupportAbilityCompliance and reporting for registered providersPer user per month, mid band
ShiftCareRostering-led in-home and community providersFrom around $8 per user per month, tiered
CareMasterSmaller teams wanting predictable pricing and PRODA claimingFlat monthly band for small teams
MYPCRM plus operations and claiming in oneCustom, quoted to setup
AlayaCareLarger home and community care with clinical needsCustom, enterprise
On pricing: we have deliberately not printed exact dollar figures for vendors who do not publish them. ShiftCare publishes tiered per-user pricing publicly, which is why it carries a figure. For the others, the honest answer is “get a quote”, and anyone who tells you a precise monthly number sight-unseen is guessing.

The six platforms in detail

Brevity Care

Brevity is an Australian-built, all-in-one platform aimed squarely at small and mid NDIS providers. It bundles client management, rostering, progress notes, billing and NDIS claiming into one system at a per-user price. For a provider whose main pain is “I want one tool that does the obvious operational jobs without an implementation project”, it is one of the two names that comes up most often, alongside SupportAbility.

Where it fits: providers who want broad coverage and predictable per-seat cost, and who do not need heavy clinical workflows.

SupportAbility

SupportAbility is a long-standing Australian platform with a strong reputation among registered providers for compliance and reporting structure. It leans into the parts of the job that auditors care about: documentation, incident records, service delivery tracking and the reporting you lean on at audit time. If your driver for leaving Lumary is cost rather than a gap in compliance features, SupportAbility is a like-for-like-feeling move on the governance side.

Where it fits: registered providers who want compliance and reporting depth without enterprise pricing.

ShiftCare

ShiftCare is the rostering-led option, and it is the one alternative on this list that publishes its pricing openly. It runs three tiers starting from around $8 per user per month, with billing, invoicing and client-fund tracking moving up the tiers. On Capterra it holds a 4.6 out of 5 rating across 145 reviews, which is a healthy signal for a tool in this space. If your business is in-home or community support and your hardest daily problem is getting the right worker to the right shift, ShiftCare is built around that job rather than treating it as a module.

Where it fits: rostering-heavy in-home and community providers who value transparent per-seat pricing.

CareMaster

CareMaster is an Australian platform that appeals to smaller teams who want predictable pricing and straightforward claiming through PRODA. The pitch is operational coverage for a small provider without the open-ended cost of an enterprise quote.

Where it fits: small teams that want a known monthly cost and clean NDIS claiming.

MYP

MYP brings CRM and operations together in one system, which matters if your sales and intake process is as important to you as service delivery. For a growing provider that is actively chasing referrals and wants enquiry tracking living next to rostering and claiming, that combination is the draw. Pricing is quoted to your setup.

Where it fits: providers who want intake and operations in a single platform.

AlayaCare

AlayaCare sits at the larger end with the other enterprise option here. It is built for home and community care operations with real clinical requirements, and like Lumary it is configured and priced to your organisation. If you are leaving Lumary because of fit or commercials rather than because you are scaling down, AlayaCare is the comparison to run.

Where it fits: larger home and community care providers with clinical workflows.

How to choose

Start from your single biggest operational pain, not from a feature checklist. The feature grids all look similar once you get past the first screen, and a tool that nominally “does rostering” is not the same as a tool built around rostering.

Two things we would push any provider to do before signing. First, count your real seats, including casual support workers and admin, because per-user pricing is decided by that number, not by your full-time equivalent count. Second, run your actual claiming workflow in a trial or demo with your own service items, not the vendor’s tidy sample data. Claiming is where switching costs hide.

Switching without breaking your claiming

The biggest risk in moving platforms is not the software, it is the gap during cutover where claims stall and cash flow wobbles. In our experience watching providers go through this, the ones who switch cleanly do a few unglamorous things:

Software choice and getting found by participants are separate problems, but they meet at one point: the system you pick should make it easy to respond to a new enquiry quickly, because slow intake loses referrals regardless of how good your back office is.

Frequently asked

What is the best alternative to Lumary?

There is no single best answer, because it depends on your size and your main operational pain. For small to mid providers, Brevity and SupportAbility are the most common like-for-like moves. ShiftCare suits rostering-led in-home and community providers and publishes its pricing openly. AlayaCare is the closer comparison if you are a larger operation with clinical needs and are leaving Lumary on fit or cost rather than scaling down.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Lumary?

Usually, yes, for smaller providers. ShiftCare, Brevity, SupportAbility and CareMaster typically work out more affordable than an enterprise quote, because they are priced per seat or in a flat band rather than configured to a large organisation. ShiftCare publishes tiered per-user pricing from around $8 per user per month. The others quote against your seat count, so confirm a real number for your headcount before assuming the saving.

Why do providers switch from Lumary?

Almost always cost or fit, not a missing feature. Lumary is built on Salesforce and aimed at the larger end of the market, so a provider who bought it at 20 staff can find they are paying for capability and configuration they never switched on. Smaller teams without an internal systems person also feel the admin weight of a configurable enterprise platform and move to something more focused.

Is Lumary built on Salesforce, and does that matter?

Yes. Lumary is built natively on Salesforce, which is part of why it is so configurable and why it scales to large providers. It matters because that flexibility needs someone to own and maintain the configuration. For a large provider with systems capability that is a strength. For a small team it can be more overhead than benefit, which is the trade-off that sends providers looking at the simpler tools on this list.

What is the riskiest part of switching NDIS software?

Claiming. The danger in any platform move is the cutover gap where claim files stall and cash flow wobbles. Switch in a low-volume window away from month-end, reconcile a parallel period so you can verify the new system produces claims that match the old one, confirm your PRODA and claiming setup before go-live, and export every record you are required to retain before you turn the old system off.
